About Me
Shaunesi DeBerry-Melvin was born January 3, 1984 in Durham, N.C. She cites her daughters as major influences on her life, and her mother who taught her to keep God first and PRAY. She is encouraged to continue this work for them, stating that her mess is, in fact, her MESSage, and that out of difficulty and drama (whether self-inflicted or brought on by others) beauty can still blossom. SHAUNESI at the young age of 28 is a Woman, proud survivor of Domestic Violence, and Single Mother that has learned to turn what was once viewed as her “MESS” into her MESSage. Shaunesi started Women Wear Pants Too Inc. ™ in 2010 a non profit that focuses on 3 key elements that effect almost every women : Women Enrichment, Single Parenting, and Domestic Violence. “The thing that I use to beat myself up on the most at "failing" at was providing my daughters with a household that had both mother and father. I battled a lot with how society would view me being so young yet a divorced/single mother and “so-called” victim, Something I worked so hard not to be. I learned from this that I didn't fail. It wasn't my fault. I’m not a victim of anything, I’m simply a survivor of life experiences and am now able to make what others may view as my MESS, my MESSage. A process of learning self worth is something that I gained from my ‘failure’ and because of that I'm able to stand proud, flaws and all!” Motivating, enriching, and inspiring is something this woman clearly has mastered. Shaunesi is WELL on her way. |
